Shanna Moakler was born to a dentist father, John W. Moakler III and mother Gail Moakler. Shanna has two brothers Kirk Moakler and John W Moakler IV, who are older to her. She is of German, Portuguese and Irish origin. Shanna Moakler has graduated from Barrington High School.
Shanna Moakler bloomed into a stunning beauty that eventually brought her the Miss Universe crown in 1995. Shanna who began modeling at the age of fifteen has entered into beauty pageants at the age of sixteen and began winning the Miss Rhode Island in 1991, Miss Teen USA, Miss New York USA, Miss USA and finally Miss Universe in 1995. Soon after winning the crown Shanna Moakler moved to Los Angeles.
The following year this amazing beauty made her television debut with single episodic television plays "Due South" and "Lois & Clark- The New Adventures of Superman" both aired in 1996. She then appeared in a made-for-television film "Friends 'Til the End"{1997}, and a big-screen movie "The Wedding Singer" {1998}. Shanna has bagged a recurring role on a long-running television drama "Pacific Blue" {44 episodes: 1998-2000}, a police drama that patrolled the beaches of Santa Monica on bikes. Shanna became famous as one of the cops-on-bike. Shanna Moakler was a celebrity contestant on "Search Party" {3 episodes: 1999-2000}, a game show on the E! network.
Moakler has also appeared in the MTV reality series "Meet the Barkers" {14 episodes- 2005-2006} that focused on her marital life with drummer Travis Barker of 'Blink 182'. She has also appeared on "Dancing with the Stars" {5 episodes: 2006}, and "Entertainment Tonight" {5 episodes: 2006-2008}. Shanna Moakler's popularity rose further as she hit the cover and centre-spread of Playboy magazine in December 2001.
Moakler had her first date while in her school. She dated the captain of the school's football team. Later in 1997 Moakler dated rock star Billy Idol. The two together has appeared in "The Wedding Singer" {1998}. Later Moakler began a long romance with welterweight boxing champion Oscar de La Hoya in October 1997. Soon after their engagement, the couple together has a daughter Atiana Cecilia de la Hoya, born March 29th, 1999. The following year in the month of September, Shanna Moakler broke off with her husband de la Hoya and then filed a palimony suit against him for $62.5 million. Moakler just prior to her appearance in Playboy magazine has dated actor Dennis Quaid in 2001. Their relationship lasted 8 months.
Shanna Moakler married Travis Barker, a drummer for the band +44 on October 30th, 2004. They together have a son named Landon born October 9th, 2003 and daughter Alabama born December 24th, 2005. The couple got separated and again reunited before finally divorcing in February 2008.
